Extra Value | $0 to $100K a Realistic Step-by-Step Guide for Creators
Forbes’ new Top Creators list, a hot new messaging app, and the only analytic that matters is reach.
Weekly Rewind
We hosted a content and business person meet-up in LA last weekend and had a great time! We’re going to be doing more of them and would love for more of you guys reading this to show up if you can! I’ll put it in here and on my instagram story the next time we are going to do one to give you a heads up! 😁
Founder’s Corner
If I were starting from scratch today (as a creator) and want to make my first $100K, this is what I’d do. These are real steps that I’ve used myself, and they work. 💯
Step 1: Choose Your Platform
The first thing you need to do is pick the platform that fits your style and strengths. Stick to where you feel most natural.
If you’re good with aesthetic video, focus on Instagram.
If you like talking off the cuff, TikTok might be for you.
If you enjoy writing, focus on LinkedIn, Threads or X.
Step 2: Engage with Your Niche
Once you’ve picked your platform, you need to learn from others in your space. Dive deep into what’s working for the best in your niche.
Identify 3 successful accounts in your niche.
Engage with their community by answering questions and leaving comments.
Become a regular in the comment sections of those accounts—build real relationships.
Step 3: Create Signature Content Series
The key is to stand out. Think about how you can create repeatable/ consistent content that people will recognize and remember you for.
Pick 2-3 content series that align with your brand and audience.
Use consistent titles so your series becomes recognizable (like my Business Blueprint).
Make it easy for your community to share, talk about, and look forward to each series.
Step 4: Double Down on Posting
Consistency is key to building a strong presence. Look at how often top creators are posting and aim to increase your output—but remember, progress comes with time.
Don’t stress about matching others’ output immediately; focus on building a routine that feels sustainable for you.
See how often the top accounts post and try doubling your own pace over time as you get more comfortable.
Respond to every comment, and build genuine connections.
DM people who comment to build deeper connections and ask for feedback.
Step 5: Monetize When the Community Is Ready
Once your community is engaged and thriving, it’s time to monetize. I suggest starting with three methods:
Brand Deals – Pay attention to what your community is curious about. Is it your daily drink or gear setup? Approach brands that fit those interests. Aim for two deals at $2,500 each.
Digital Products – If your audience is constantly asking about something you use, like a Notion template or Google Sheet, sell it. A $20 product sold to 75 people makes you $1,500 a month.
Services – Offer a skill you’ve mastered, like consulting, editing, or copywriting, to three clients at $1,500 each.
Step 6: Keep Growing, And Find Help
Finally, when you’re ready to grow beyond one platform, do it smartly. Don’t spread yourself too thin.
Stick with your main platform where you’ve built momentum.
Hire an expert to help you grow on a second platform without draining your energy.
Focus on the platform where you are most engaged, while letting someone else handle the expansion.
Hope this sparks some ideas for you, if you have any questions reply to this email!
